Import a Domain
Import Domain copies a domain from another fusor in your library into the one you are editing, with both sides and all their curves. In this tutorial you give the Channel Fader fusor an EQ swap by importing the 3-Band EQ domain from the shipped EQ Swap fusor.
Before you start
- Build a constant-power crossfade done. You will recognize the domain you start from.
- Channel Fader run at least once, so you know how it sounds on its own.
- Your crossfader in bypass. The result modulates the channel faders.
1. Duplicate Channel Fader
Work on a copy, so the original stays as it is.
- Library (book icon) → Fusors in the window header → Fusors sub-tab.
- Three rows read Channel Fader. Right-click the one whose middle dot is filled, and choose Duplicate.
- Name it
My Channel Fader with EQ Swapand confirm.
The copy is written to your library and opens for editing. Open its Domains tab: one card, Channel Fader.
2. Import the 3-Band EQ domain
- Click Import Domain.
- Pick a domain type: 3-Band EQ.
- Pick a source fusor: expand EQ Swap. The row shows how many curves each side holds: three, one for each band. Other fusors with a 3-Band EQ domain are in the list too, and work the same way.
- Click Preview. The Domain Editor opens read-only on the source's curves, so you can check what you are about to bring in. Click Import.
A 3-Band EQ card appears beside the Channel Fader card, both sides filled. Outgoing curves are copied to the outgoing side and incoming curves to the incoming side, so there is no side to pick.
The fusor autosaves, so the import is already in the file.
3. Run it
Close the Library window and load My Channel Fader with EQ Swap in the fusor picker.
Set up the run as for Channel Fader, with one change: set the EQ knobs on both decks to neutral. Push the crossfader hard over to the outgoing side, start the outgoing deck, and run it.
The channel faders crossfade the two tracks as before, and the EQs now swap them band by band: the outgoing loses its highs, then its mids, then its bass, while the incoming gets its bass back first, then its mids, then its highs.
The result has the same two domains, with the same curves, as the shipped EQ Swap.
What you learned
- That Duplicate gives you a copy of a shipped fusor to work on.
- That Import Domain copies a domain from another fusor with both sides and their curves, in the same roles.
- That Preview shows the source's curves read-only before you commit.
